Here’s what the brand new upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA looks like! This “spy” picture was taken in Iceland and shows the next baby Benz stark naked, that is, with none of the usual black plastic camouflage. The CLA, or whatever it will be called, is really a sedan version of the new A-Class, and will go up against the new Audi A3 sedan.
CLA is a four-door sedan, a baby CLS if you will, as shown by that sloping rear end design. Mercedes-Benz has really gone to town on this one, they shed their conservative design fears a while ago and are going for the young car consumerwho, up to now, has only looked at Audi and BMW.
What this means is that the CLA will share its powertrains with the A-Class. Therefore we can look forward to engines such as the 135kW 1.6-litre turbo, the 150kW 2.1-litre turbo diesel and others. For sure they will be an AMGversion able to kick out over 245kW.
The car launchesin a few weeks’ time, probably at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show. It goes on sale in Mzansi during the first half of 2013.
