POTENT PORSCHE CAYENNE S DIESEL DETAILED

Porsche is taking the fight to BMW following the announcement of its most powerful ever diesel Cayenne. The new Cayenne S Diesel features a 4.2-litre twin turbo V8 engine that puts out similar power but 110Nm more torque than a BMW X5 M50d from the M Performance Division. At the same time, this engine returns a highly impressive 8.3 litres per 100km of fuel, according to Porsche.

You may have noticed the size of the V8 and perhaps realised that it’s uncannily similar to the Volkswagen Touareg V8 TDI and Audi Q7 4.2 TDI. That’s because it’s the exact same motor. But of course, this is Porsche, and so it had to spew out extra horses, just because. At this level then we are talking 281kW at 3750rpm and 850Nm of torque between 2000rpm and 2750rpm, sent to all four wheels through the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active All-Wheel-Drive system. Drive goes past an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox with auto start/ stop, unique in the segment.

Porsche says the Cayenne S Diesel will run from 0 – 100km/h in a mere 5.7 seconds, but stop running the needles at 252 km/h. Its maker says the car sounds like a petrol V8, just in case you are turned off by the agricultural sound of a diesel motor.

Interior comforts, standard and optional, include goodies such as a 17.8cm touch screen, a powerful sound system, dual-zoneautomatic climate control, electrically-adjustable leather seats, front and rear parking sensors and more.
